Help Secure the Future of NVU: Let Your Voice Be Heard, Sign a Petition
On Friday, April 17th, WCAX News reported that three Vermont schools in the Vermont State Colleges System are on the chopping block. Northern Vermont University (NVU) -Lyndon, formerly known as Lyndon State College is one of those schools, along with NVU – Johnson and Vermont Technical College (VTC) in Randolph. Citing the pandemic combined with past financial troubles, declining enrollment, revenues, and competition, Chancellor Jeb Spaudling suggested that action is necessary, yet acknowledged that this is “going to be a gut punch to the NEK.” Loss of NVU in the Northeast Kingdom, would deeply affect the community, including major job loss, higher educational opportunities for locals, tourism, and the future…

Where to Find Reliable Homeschooling in Vermont Information
Vermont is an ideal place to raise a family. It’s also a great place to homeschool your children. Homeschooling in Vermont As a parent who has homeschooled her children for many years (my oldest recently graduated) and helped others start on the homeschooing journey, I’ve frequently heard or read over the years that Vermont is a ‘tough’ place to homeschool. Why? Bureaucracy. Homeschooling in Vermont requires initial student registration, submission of a professional evidence/disability form, outline of curriculum (*not annually if certain requirements are met), and annual end-of-year assessments in the form of a teacher assessment, student portfolio, or standardized testing.
