Knitting in Northern Vermont
For years, I’ve wanted to work on my knitting skills, but I’ve never had enough time for classes. Thanks to awesome youtube videos–thankfully short clips that I can sneak in between toddler and kid requests–I’ve been able to finally accomplish some cool knitting projects. I just completed a fabulous Christmas gift that looks similar to this (the pattern I used though is called “Casey’s Simple Cowl”) using some yummy eco-cloud alpaca wool from Littleton’s The Yarn Garden. Children’s Art Classes at Catamount Arts
On Monday, January 9th a new children’s art class series begins at Catamount Arts in St. Johnsbury. The series is for preschool children ages 3-5. Collage and Crafts “is a children’s art class meeting each Monday morning for eight weeks that incorporates a variety of skills, such as cutting, pasting, drawing and painting, while experimenting with colors and shapes. Children should plan on lots of fun and parents should plan on lots of messy fingers.” The instructor is Lisa Emerson. The class runs through February 27th and is offered at 9am-9:45 or 10am-10:45am. Free April Art Programs for Kids and Adults at the Cobleigh Library
In this week’s Cobleigh Publicity email news (btw, super librarian, Tina Achilles’ list is great and you should sign up for it if you don’t already receive it), there are fabulous free art offerings for ages 8+. The art sessions take place Monday through Friday, April 11th-15th, 1pm-2:45pm. Maria Roche and students from Lyndon Educational Alternative Resources Network (“L.E.A.R.N.”) have joined forces with the Cobleigh Library. Call 626-5475 for more info or to sign up. Caledonia County Dabble Day 2011
If you’re looking to attend an event young children will love, save this date: Saturday, March 19th. That’s when the Caledonia / Southern Essex County Dabble Day takes place at the St. Johnsbury School at 10 a.m. – noon. Dabble Day is a FREE fun family-filled day for young children (birth – age 6), sponsored by the Building Bright Futures of Caledonia/Southern Essex along with other local community partners.
