I’m often asked what cool things are there to do in Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom in the Summer with children, beyond Mountain Biking or the typical tourist attractions or spots? Specifically, what are the “Must Dos” if I’m visiting the NEK for just a weekend and want to really take in NEK life? It’s Strawberry Season in the Kingdom
Although from Florida, the “Winter Strawberry Capital of the World,” I never picked my own strawberries growing up. This is strange because 1. I love strawberries and 2. fresh strawberries are so much better than grocery store berries. Since I’ve been in Vermont my husband and I have intended each summer to pick our own but other things came up and we always missed the season. Not this year. Vermont History Expo 2012: Vermont in the Civil War
This weekend my husband and I are ridiculously excited to take our daughter to her first Vermont History Expo (not that she will remember it, but we will take lots of pictures) at the Tunbridge Fairgrounds. In addition to being an awesome high school history teacher, my husband is also a Civil War re-enactor with the Hemlocks. (Have I mentioned that we met at an American Revolution course for teachers in Virginia? We also got married at the Old Stone House complete with a contra dance – we are quite the history nerds!)
