Time Magazine Cover Features Attachment Parenting Mama Breastfeeding Three Year Old

When Time Magazine hits newsstands tomorrow showing a mother (Jamie Lynne Grumet) nursing her three year old on the cover, there’s going to be A LOT of discussion, talk and heated debate about attachment parenting, including the practices of extended breastfeeding and co-sleeping.  When Time tweeted a sneak preview of the cover earlier today, Twitter was abuzz.

How will Vermonters react to Time Magazine?  When I think of parenting in Vermont, I naturally think of Attachment Parenting (AP).  My big city and suburban friends view Vermont moms as models for attachment parenting philosophies.  I think we are.  What do you think?  Weigh in below.

I think the cover was awful and they were going for a rise from people. It got people talking but I think the wrong way.
I’m breastfeeding my nearly 3 yr old and will continue as long as he wants to. We share a family bed, don’t circumcise and don’t vaccinate. I’m not impressed with the article or the cover at all.

It could have been done much more tastefully. Why give them the image they all imagine when they picture a nursing toddler? Why not show the sweet innocent image it really is?
Even friends/family who have never said anything about our extensive breastfeeding began making comments that made me uncomfortable once they saw the cover.
