It’s Strawberry Season in the Kingdom
Although from Florida, the “Winter Strawberry Capital of the World,” I never picked my own strawberries growing up. This is strange because 1. I love strawberries and 2. fresh strawberries are so much better than grocery store berries. Since I’ve been in Vermont my husband and I have intended each summer to pick our own but other things came up and we always missed the season. Not this year. Vermont History Expo 2012: Vermont in the Civil War
This weekend my husband and I are ridiculously excited to take our daughter to her first Vermont History Expo (not that she will remember it, but we will take lots of pictures) at the Tunbridge Fairgrounds. In addition to being an awesome high school history teacher, my husband is also a Civil War re-enactor with the Hemlocks. (Have I mentioned that we met at an American Revolution course for teachers in Virginia? We also got married at the Old Stone House complete with a contra dance – we are quite the history nerds!) Travel Cheap: Mom-Kid, Family Roadtrip Adventure Tips
I love to explore with my kids. Our flexible homeschooling lifestyle allows for lots of mom-kid adventure, even if the adventure is just to the local grocery store (trust me, with the kids in tow, there’s always a story to tell…for better or worse) or to an activity on the other side of town. My tiny, tiny *deal* obsession also makes exploration and travel adventure possible without breaking the budget. Kingdom Trails Summer Season 2012 Opens Early – Saturday, April 21st! What this Means for NEK Families!
Kingdom Trails Association has just announced an awesome surprise for outdoor enthusiasts and aspiring adventurists! The Darling Hill side of the Kingdom Trail network will open earlier than anticipated–this Saturday, April 21st. Thanks to landowner agreement and warm temps, those trails are opening ahead of the original May 1st schedule.
