If you’re game for a road trip, Valentine’s Day makes a good day for a trip to Vermont’s State Capital City. Why? There is a mysterious Valentine Tradition that has people seeing hearts. As the tradition goes, red hearts are plastered across the town, appearing on buildings and in windows throughout the downtown area. The mystery lies in the secret of the Valentine Phantom–who is the person or persons who heart Vermont’s Capital so much that each year since 2002 they post hearts for everyone to see and enjoy? Children’s Acting Classes Come to Lyndonville
You’re probably well familiar with Vermont Children’s Theater and Vermont Family Theatre, which by the way recently closed a wonderful Annie performance. But now there’s a new gig in town: The Actor’s Loft in downtown Lyndonville. Professional Actor, John Walker plans to offer Theatre Arts & public speaking classes in January for all ages. Creative drama for kids aims at self-esteem development and creative problem solving. Classes meet weekly, are 90 minutes long and priced at $25 per session, with a sibling discount. Right in the heart of downtown St. Johnsbury, there’s now the Vermont Sewing School (446 Railroad Street, 2nd Floor). The school offers a range of classes and teaches students of all ages. Super Easy Playdough Recipe!
Forget about rushing out to the store for playdoh. It’s a cinch to make yourself. Here’s a recipe that works. The best part? Besides being fast to prepare, you probably already have the ingredients in your cupboard and kids will stay entertained for hours. Playdough 2 cups flour 1 cup salt 2 tablesppons cream of tarter 2 cups of water 1 tablespoons mineral or vegetable oil food coloring (or koolaid for smell) Mix ingredients in a saucepan. Cook over medium heat. Stir until stiff. Remove from burner. Allow to Cool. Knead. Store in airtight container.
